湖北九宫山国家级自然保护区简介

湖北九宫山国家级自然保护区于2007年4月6日经国务院批准建立，为森林生态系统类型的自然保护区。该区位于湖北省通山县境内，属幕阜山系九宫山脉中段，地理位置为东经114°23'35"-114°39'48"，北纬29°19'27"-29°27'08"，海拔高度117-1656.7m；总面积16608.7hm²，其中核心区6697hm²、缓冲区4023hm²、实验区5888.7hm²。

九宫山国家级自然保护区地处中国第二级阶梯上，是我国中亚热带向北亚热带的过渡地区，是长江一级支流富水的发源地，是长江中游南部重要的水源补给区，是华中地区南北生物区系的汇集地和避难所，又是东西动植物交流的通道和走廊，生物多样性十分丰富。区内有维管束植物209科，857属1983种，陆生脊椎动物260种，昆虫980多种，其中属国家珍稀濒危保护野生植物有钟萼木、南方红豆杉、香果树、鹅掌楸等37种；属国家一级保护动物有豹、云豹、白颈长尾雉等5种，国家二级保护动物有白鹇、小灵猫等34种。

HubeiJiugongshan national nature reserve(HJNNR) belonging to the forest vegetationecosystem was approved by the State Council on April 6,2007.It is located inTongshan County of Hubei Province in P. R. China, and lies in the Jiugongshanmiddle section of the Mufu mountain, with its geographical position defined bylongitude 114°23′35″～114°39′48″ E, latitude 29°19′27″～29°27′08″ N and altitude117～1,656.7 m. The total area of HJNNR is16,608.7hm², among which, core zone 6,697 hm², bufferzone 4,023 hm², experimental zone 5,888.7 hm².

HJNNRis located on the second terrace of China topography, and it is the transitionzone from the Mid-Asia tropical zone to the North-Asia tropical zone in China,the headstream of the Fushui river system­­——the tributary of the Yangtze River,the important water-supply area in the south of the middle Yangtze River, thegathering place and refuge of the north-south biota in central China, thepassage and corridor of the communication for the west-east animals and plantsin China. Therefore, HJNNR is very rich in biodiversity.

Thereare 1,983 species of vascular plants belonging to 857 genera of 209 families ,260 species of terrestrial vertebrates, more than 980 species of insects in thereserve. Among them, there are 37 species of the State rare, endangered andprotected wild plants such asBretschneiderasinensis,Taxus chinensisvar.mairei,Emmenopterys henryi,Liriodendronchinense, etc.; there are 5 species of animals such asPanthera pardus fusca,Neofelisn. nebulosa,Syrmaticus ellioti,etc., which have been ranked as categoryⅠprotected animals in China; thereare 34 species of animals ranked as second-class protected animals of China, suchasLophura nycthemera fokiensis,Viverricula indica pallida, etc.
